Mind Health NJ

Let go of anxiety.

Reclaim your life.

At Mind Health NJ, these five focus areas underlie our treatment.

Awareness/Insight

Becoming aware of why we feel and behave the way we do is the first step to healing. Often it is what we believe about ourselves, the world we live in, and our future, that leads us to stress, anxiety, and limitations to our growth. When we gain insight about our thoughts and beliefs, we can modify them and see things from a different and more positive perspective. We feel better and start living the life we want.

Lifestyle
Our lifestyles greatly impact our mental health. Positive change, such as regular exercise, a balanced diet, quality sleep, and meaningful social connections can greatly improve mental health by reducing stress, boosting mood, and enhancing overall well-being.
mindfulness
Mindfulness/Living in the Moment
Mindfulness, the practice of staying present and fully engaged in the moment, is increasingly recognized for its powerful impact on mental health. By focusing on the “here and now,” mindfulness helps reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Regular mindfulness practice can improve self-awareness, foster a more balanced perspective, promote relaxation, and create a sense of calm and stability.

Values
Clarifying one’s values provides a sense of direction and purpose. When we know what truly matters to us, we feel less inner conflict, make better decisions, and feel a greater sense of fulfillment. We feel better about ourselves and feel connected to what gives our lives meaning.

Growth
Going out of your comfort zone may feel scary at first, but is necessary for growth. When we take those actions that feel like risks, it feels liberating and we develop our latent strengths.

About David Krakowski

David Krakowski

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey and New York. After receiving my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Columbia University in 2018, I worked in multiple outpatient mental health clinics and private practices. Through my extensive education, ongoing training, and professional experience, I have built an expertise in treating anxiety, stress, phobias, and other mental health conditions.

I believe every person and situation is unique and I tailor my approach accordingly to meet the specific needs of each client. I most commonly draw on my expertise in modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, (CBT), Exposure Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Self-Compassion Therapy, Schema Therapy, Ego-State Therapy (also known as “parts work”), and mindfulness-based techniques. I work to provide my clients with the tools and experiences to feel better.
My therapy room is an open, warm, and nonjudgmental environment, where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves freely, and feel validated and supported. I help my clients gain insight into themselves, including their fears, ambitions, values, and strengths and how to direct them all towards achieving their goals and living the life they want to live.

FAQs

The initial appointment usually last for 55-60 minutes. Subsequent appointments are for 45 minutes but often may last up to 55 minutes.
Treatment length can vary greatly based on your indivdual goals for therapy, the complexity of your presenting concerns, and how much you throw yourself into trying out between the sessions what you’re learning in therapy. Most clients stay in therapy between 3-12 months, but many clients start seeing progress immediately or after a few sessions.

Psychotherapy has been shown to be effective for a wide range of mental health issues, including stress, depression, and anxiety. Research shows that most people notice real improvements in how they feel and cope after working with a therapist. The effectiveness of therapy comes from a positive therapist–client relationship, practical skills learned, and client’s own active involvement. Everyone’s experience is different, but therapy is a powerful way to heal from mental health challenegs and improve overall well-being.

Yes, we provide both in-person and online sessions.

A therapy session is $150, for those paying out pocket. If you have insurance, you can see if you qualify to be covered and then you would only pay the co-pay, if any, depending on your insurance plan. I have a limited amount of slots for sliding scale rates. If you don’t qualify for insurance and cannot afford the regular out-of-pocket rate ask me about qualifying for a sliding-scale rate.

For clients in NJ and NY I accept most plans from the following insurances:
Aetna
Cigna
Optum
Oxford
United Healthcare
Oscar
Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield

I process my insurance through a company called Alma. Before we schedule an appointment, I will send an email to you through Alma to enter your insurance information. It normally takes Alma 1-3 days to process the information. Alma will send both client and therapist an email informing them if client qualifies for insurance coverage, if there is a deductible, and the amount that client will pay out-of-pocket for a copay.
I will email you necessary consent forms for you to read and sign. These normally take between 5-10 minutes to complete. If there is a copay, you will need to also enter your credit card information in the Alma portal.
